  • Posted on January 6, 2010 at 3:06 pm

In a few years ago,the Europe main luxury brands had staring at the active Asia market, especial the strength of China in the financial crisis making the eyes of world all focus on China. In the past two years, luxury brands have fled from American and Europe market and thrown themself into Russia and Chinses market which the demand for luxury is steadily on increase.

Chanel,a brand had gloriously succeeded and till now is still a classic; Karl Largefeld,a person who is the life and soul of upscale fashions and called “Caesar of fashion world”. The lately big news is visiting China and deal a “Paris-Shanghai” show,it’s the first luxury brand that had such a grand show in China,it is also is a upscale fashion line that complete designed for Chinese Market. Chanel had held senior hand-crafting workship in Paris,Monte Carto,New York,Tokyo,Lodon,Mosow,in the eyes of luxury brands, each city are the new land of luxury market.

Chinese market might not the last Noah’a Ark for luxury market, but abviously those big luxury brands have decided to take their palce. November 2009,repoted by global strategy consulting firm Bain that size of luxury market in 2008 of China was about U.S. 8.6 billion dollars, incresing to 9.6 billion dollars in 2009,up to 2015,China will be the biggest buyer og global luxury goods. One of the manifestation to show Luxury brand are seizing Chinese market is starting large number of stores, take Gucci for an example, since the first time for entering The Peninsula Palace Beijing, then starting stores in Shanghai Times Square in 2001,increased three stores in 2004,four in 2006,seven in 2007,till 2009,increased to 9 stores. Besides that, the competition among luxury brands express in the area of stores,in July 2009, the 28th store of Gucci – a flagship store that has 2000 Square meter was stared in the golden trade zone of Shanghai. only a street’s distance,it’s neighbor Prada that is located in Heng Long Square expended its area of store,Louis Vuitton designed to stared another new store

Another of manifestation to show luxury brands are seizing Chinese market is the competition in affinity. It’s no wonder that you can see Chinese faces in mainstream luxury brands’s show. From Juan Du serviced for the international brand to Bei Pei as the first model of Christian Dior senior fashion show…They could get hot in international T-stage,it should be in direct relationship about that China’s position keeps on advancing in global luxury market. The goal of Luxury brands choosing them is for drawing near the distance of Chinese customers.

Except above, more and more limited version luxury goods were launched in Chinese Festival,Luxury brands only introduced limited goods in valentine’s day or Christmas in the past, but update to Spring festival or Tanabata festival these Chinese festival nowadays. Even during Beijing Olympic Games 2008,Gucci launched a line limited version products theme in red for Olympic Games 2008.

The competition has stared, who will be last winer? Chinese brands how to survive in this situation,it’s a question worthy of consideration.

Chinese time of Luxury goods

  • Posted on January 6, 2010 at 2:54 pm

In many times, luxury is not so luxury, they are the necessities for the rich. No wonder some said that necessities for life brands and necessities for luxury brands are the most likely to go through this economy Winter well.

Internationlization helps most of luxury brands to go through the crisis, the grow continuously rich-class in emerging markets is the main strength to suport the luxury brands, the main propulsion come from Middle East,Russia and China these countries which like to show off wealthy.

Funny is,this “show off wealthy culture” is not popular in Europe. It’s said that in British more and more rich customers asked the shop assistants to put there goods into a shopping bag without Logo, because they don’t want to show wealthy to people.

But the most funny is people are starting to discuss that China how to creat his own luxury brands. In some views, the trends to creat Chinese luxury brand is a big thing has to do. Of course,it’s not easy to creat a top luxury brand. Even hard but it’s not impossible to finish, cos China has profound culture and delicate high quality tradition, depend on such kind of culture and tradition,no doubt will help to launch Chinese own luxury brands to start and develop. From the history opportunity to say,now it’s a good economy environment to help to creat a Chinese time of Luxury goods,it has big image space at least.

Invest in Platinum: 2009?

  • Posted on December 29, 2009 at 11:44 am

platinum-eagle-coinAt face value, it seems that now is the right time to invest in platinum when you consider the highs and lows of the past 52 weeks. Platinum reached an all-time high of just over $2,300 per ounce in March of 2008 and today tries to hold firm around $940 an ounce–a 60% drop from its primordial heights of 1st quarter 2008.

But a New Year is upon us and things are already beginning to change. With the news of the bloody conflict in the Gaza strip, precious metals prices got a jump-start during the last few days of 2008. Platinum was actually struggling in the mid-800s before the news of increased instability and the breach of the cease-fire in the Middle East.

Still, even in the mid $900s, platinum is at an all time low. It’s hard to imagine such a historically expensive metal going much lower. But is it a good time to buy?

That depends on your time horizon and a very unexpected twist in the precious metals sector: ties to the U.S. automaking industry. In years past, automakers consumed approx. 900,000 ounces of platinum in a single year–for use in their automobile’s catalytic converters. This accounted for about half of all platinum demand worldwide, according to London-based precious metals refiner, John Mattey, Plc.  With the spotlight heavily on the ailing “Big 3″ and the declining automobile industry, platinum took a serious hit in 2008.

Surprise, surprise–what to watch when considering an investment in platinum? Chevy, Ford, & Chrysler–”The Big 3″.

Our recommendation is to hold platinum for those few of you who actually own platinum coins or hold investments–now is certainly not the time to sell, with platinum prices at an all-time low.

Consider buying when you see the first signs of recovery in the auto-industry. The vast and great challenge of platinum investing: with platinum historically and unbearably volatile, timing the market in such a commodity can prove challenging–more so than gold and more familiar precious metals. By the time a recovery is underway, the rug may have already been pulled from under your feet, and platinum may have already shot up 20-30%. It is too late to invest.

Our recommendation: Hold or Buy for Long-term investment (but be prepared to wait!)

Purity Rings: A Commitment to Virtue

  • Posted on December 29, 2009 at 11:31 am

maltese-cross-diamond-and-white-gold-purity-ringDespite the popularity of sex, drugs and violence in the media, many young teens are turning their backs on these themes and instead turning to the Bible. In schools across the country, focusing on religion and purity is becoming a popular way of life for many middle school and high school students. From idols like the Jonas Brothers and Disney’s Selena Gomez to city kids and country teens, America’s youth is embracing purity as a socially accepted lifestyle. As a symbol of their commitment to religious ideals, these teens are choosing to wear ‘purity rings’ to proudly show off their beliefs to the world; a daily reminder of their desire to be virtuous.

What Exactly Does Purity Mean?

Purity encompasses a range of virtues, but the general idea is behind it is to possess a pure heart, pure mind and pure spirit. Being ‘pure’ is about purging sin from one’s life in order to embrace living in accordance to the virtues of the Bible. The well-known biblical quote “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” from Matthew sums up the drive behind teenagers’ commitment to purity. By living a virtuous life, the hope is that they will become closer to God and their religion.

Why Wear a Purity Ring?

Though purity rings receive the most notoriety for the wearer’s commitment to abstinence, it also encompasses much more than that. Being pure also means treating others kindly, generously, and setting a good example for others. Wearing a purity ring serves as a daily reminder of one’s promise to God and commitment to being virtuous. The meaning is similar to that of a wedding band; a powerful symbol of the person’s vows and commitment.

Where Can I Buy a Purity Ring?

A number of fine jewelry establishments sell purity rings, and Apples of Gold is proud to be among those retailers. We carry a wide selection of purity rings for both males and females who want to make a commitment to leading a virtuous life. Some of our favorite purity rings include a cross symbol on the jewelry to signify faith, including these two reasonably priced options:

Jewellery prices will be ’sky high’ in coming months

The gold market is going up
The gold market is going up

The cost of gold is going to drive up prices of jewellery, according to a new report

People interested in buying jewellery over the next few months will benefit from doing it sooner rather than later, according to recent statistics released by a leading authority.

The World Gold Council (WGC) believes that high prices will be the natural conclusion of high demand for the precious commodity, as gold continues to be a safe investment for those aiming to stave off the effects of the recession by buying tangible assets.

As a result, the high prices will continue as demand for gold stays strong, though it will likely be underpinned by the fall in amounts mined by companies across the world, which has been declining for the last nine years.

It added that practically all gold that has ever been mined continues to exist in jewellery form, with the WGC stating: “At the moment, our best estimate of above ground stocks is 163,000 tonnes, most of which resides in the jewellery sector in India.”

Earlier in the month, none other than Jessica Simpson, the US singer and actress, announced her intentions to create a line of jewellery, including wedding rings.

Gold jewellery may be ‘high risk investment’

Gold jewellery is an interesting investment

Gold jewellery may be going up in value, according to a new report, though caution should be exercised as it is not an easy investment to make, it is believed

Gold prices continue to rise, showing the potential value which may be found in gold jewellery.

Such is the observation of Barclays Wealth last month, noting that the price of gold hit new highs during October to break through the $1,050 (£634) per ounce mark as a renewed interest in the precious metal took hold of the world.

The organisation noted that investors are bullish in their outlook for the future, as 40 per cent of clients of Barclays Stockbrokers believed the price of gold would rise even further, making jewellery worth much more.

However, it is not the safest of things to buy as an investment, with Barbara-Ann King of Barclays Stockbrokers labelling it as “higher risk”.

She did, however, continue: “The reality is that it is a reasonable investment – we have had a lot of interest in gold over the last six to 12 months.

“There are a lot of people who are saying that commodities in general have a long way to go.”

Pearl Care – How To Care for Pearl Jewelry

Pearl Care - How To Care for Pearl Jewelry
Once you have purchased your pearl jewelry, the next most important part in the life of your jewelry is the care you give to it. Pearls are porous and thus are ranked between a 3.5 and 4.5 on the Mohs hardness scale (diamonds are ranked a 10 – the hardest known natural element) making the surface of a pearl susceptible to scratches by content with sharp objects and other gemstones.

Here is a short list of cautions to help protect and nurture the long life of your pearl jewelry.

1. Being organic materials, pearls are vulnerable to acid, alkaline and humidity levels. Perfume and hairspray, which contain alcohol and acids, should be avoided on the neck, upper chest, wrist, fingers and earlobes. Take your pearls off when applying cosmetics.

2. Sweat, perspiration, oil secretion from skin, and soapy water can dull and discolor the surface luster of pearls. After removing your pearl jewelry, wipe the individual pearls with a damp (not wet), soft cloth or silicon cloth. Only use cleaners labeled as safe for pearls. Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner. Do not steam clean. A small drop of olive oil on the cloth can help maintain the luster. Pay close attention to the areas around the drill holes where dirt may tend to collect. Lay your pearls on a towel to dry.

3. Water can weaken the silk thread which holds the pearls together. Remove your pearl jewelry before showering, bathing, swimming or entering a hot tub. Do not wear pearls when the string is wet (though the string should always be dry). Wet string will stretch and attract dirt making it difficult to clean.

4. Do not expose pearls to direct sunlight or leave them in high temperatures. Heat can turn pearls brown or dry them out and make them crack.

5. Remove your pearls before cooking, cleaning and washing dishes; liquids like vinegar, fruit juices and detergents should be immediately wiped off. Do not expose pearls to bleaches, powdered cleaners, baking soda, and ammonia-based cleaners (like Windex).

6. Avoid wearing Shetland wool with pearls.

7. Do not hang pearls to dry.

8. Do not wear pearls when the string is wet.

9. About every six months, have your pearls inspected by a professional jeweler for secure mounting and a strong string.

10. Do store your pearl jewelry is a chamois or other non-abrasive bag. Do not leave your pearls on top of or under your other jewelry.

By following these simple pearl care instructions, your pearl jewelry will last longer and maintain their natural beauty for their lifetime.
