    In the big watch house of Rolex, the world wide well known watch brand, there have been displayed quite a lot of watch series and collections that bear with the ultimate excellence and fashion. Rolex watches have novel Explorer and Sumariner timepieces for men this year. They were displayed at the Baselworld 2010 and appealed lots of attention. Rolex does not forget their female clients. At the watch fair, it also exhibited serveral brand-new lady’s Datejust models which are 31mm at diameter. Although with uniform size, these models are designed with different styles. Female Rolex fans will surely be delighted to view that new Datejust becomes much more feminine than previous editions and has much more suitable size for contemporary women. I have to point out that the models are not very Rolex even though these new lady’s Datejust replica watches look very wonderful.The watch case design basically maintains the same. The dial and the bezel have replaced by some decorative elements. Ticking inside is the Rolex in-house made automatic 2225 caliber which has been COSC Chronometer certified.

    Rolex creates a large number of charming decorative creations to meet the vast needs of modern female. For me, I like the two tone (SS + Rose gold) model that crafted with luxurious diamond bezel, classic numerals and chocolate toned dial. It is gorgeous.  I feel those designs with foral pattern on the dial are a bit noisy although very feminine. They will be accessible at Rolex stores. Of course, not all the people have the capability of owning one piece of the items for the whopping price tags. However, if you are capable enough, you will never be disappointed for the wonderful design.

The watch prevailed in the midst of gruelling tests, and survived the wear and tear of expeditions including sub-zero temperatures. Many believed that the Submariner was actually launched during the end of 1953 and was based on the Rolex Explorer, although at the Basel Fair in 1954, the Submariner (model 6204) was actually released. During 1960, the name “Submariner” was officially patented. The Submariner, when introduced, was initially powered by the A296 movement. The Mercedes hand and the 1030 movement, which is slightly longer than the modern version, replaced the older movement. In 1955, the Model 6538 was replaced by the 6204, and the 6205 by 6536. Displaying a chronometer version of the 1030 movement, model 6536 then became 6536/1.

Many Rolex models were renumbered and improved by the mid 1960’s. Powered by a non-chronometer 1530 movement, in the year 1962, Rolex released model 5513. A few years later the movement was changed to 1520. Denoting a switch from the use of Radium to Tritium on the hands of the dial, Rolex changed the word “Swiss” to “Swiss T < 25”. Also by that time, the former gold from the dial of the watches appeared like white and the chronometer models read “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified”. When Sean Connery played James Bond in the popular Bond series, he was seen sporting the Submariner on his wrist. Following the antecedent spy films, various other motion pictures followed suit and flouted the features of the Submariner, which was indeed very successful.

The first “date” feature was introduced on a Submariner in 1966, when Rolex watches  released the 1680 model. The cyclops bubble was aligned with the date aperture in perfection as this model was replaced with a thicker crystal and was powered by the 1575 movement. In the early 1980’s, 16800 was the renumbered version of 1680 model. In the 1970’s, Rolex added the triple-lock crown and the 1980’s saw new Submariner models. Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and an upgraded depth rating of 1,000 feet were its new features.

A unique version of the Submariner model 5513, was issued in 1968 by Rolex. This was the British Royal Navy and was primarily for military use. An alternative to the spring bars were the welded bars, replacing the bracelet was the military strap, the casebacks were engraved for ID purposes and were much bolder and wider than the original size. These were some of the distinguishing differences between the original and military versions. Around four years later, model 5517 was issued by Rolex which was exclusively designed for the British Royal Marines.

The current model of today is the 16610, which Rolex issued in place of the 16800 during 1990’s. The new Cal.3130 movement is an important feature of this model. Displaying a black dial with a rotating green bezel, and a stainless steel, oyster flip lock bracelet was the Submariners 50th anniversary model (16610 LV). This was released in 2003 by Rolex and the green bezel represents the official corporate color of Rolex.

Before I start off, let me inform you this is definitely NOT the official Rolex Website. The official Rolex website is obviously http://www.watches-replicas.com/rolex-watches.html. I tried to write an email to these guys and get permission from them for putting info and images on Gem Sutra but they have no email address on their website which sucks. Anyways Here I go about Rolex Watches and what I think of them for the short period of time that I have known about them. By the way next on the list is ChronoSwiss. Let me first mention that I was never a watch fan ever in my life. For me a Timex, Seiko or a Rolex were the same from the outside, inside and any angle you want to look at. I was only interested in what time it was and what watch told me the time never mattered. However I learnt and was educated. So I heard about Rolex, Chrono Swiss, Jean Marcel, Patek Phillipe, Tag Heuer (misspelled as hauer), Tissot et cetera. 

  I don’t know when Rolex was established, but I am pretty sure that I will find that out in a couple of days. In 1910 Rolex developed a timepiece small enough to be worn on the wrist and in doing so turned the traditional fob or pocket watch into a antique piece. It was honoured London’s Kew Observatory with a certificate equivalent to those normally awarded to marine chronometers (very accurate watches of their time). That was the first time that Rolex was known to the people. This was like the first step to a long ladder of success. In 1926 Rolex invented the first waterproof watch and the oyster was born. In 1927 a young Englishwoman swam the English Channel wearing a Rolex Oyster. She emerged from the sea with the watch in perfect running order (now that is quality stuff).


 In 1936 Rolex invented the “Perpetual”, the world’s first self winding rotor mechanism and the forerunner of all modern automatic watches. Come 1945 and Rolex introduced the Datejust, the first ever chronometer with automatic date change. This means that it knows which month has 30 days and 31 days and also 28 or 29 days in a month. Later on in 1956, the Day-Date added the day of the week spelt out in full in 26 different languages. In 1953 Rolex participated in the conquest of Mount Everest. Members of Sir John Hunt’s victorious team relied on the Oyster Perpetual Chronometer. The same year, Rolex invented the first watch for divers, the “Submariner”, and one year later, the “GMT-Master”, which displays the time in two different world zones. In 1971 the introduction of Rolex “Sea Dweller”, the first divers’ watch water proof to a depth of 610 metres – 2,000 feet and equipped with a gas escape valve. Today the same model is waterproof to 1,220 metres – 4,000 feet.

 

 

  And finally in 1992 Rolex Watches introduced the “Yacht-Master”, a chronometer that combines all the qualities which have contributed to the Rolex Oyster. Since 1994, the “Yacht-Master” has also been available in ladies and intermediate size versions. A single oyster movement contains more than 220 components. To assemble this fine example of the watchmaker’s art demands perfectionism at every stage. First and foremost are the qualities of the watchmakers themselves, each motivated to produce only the best. They are aided in their work by the latest state-of-the-art technology. Uncompromising quality control procedures are applied at each production phase and the slightest imperfection means rejection. In the end the individual watch maker’s skill that give each rolex that touch of excellence which is responsible for it’s unmatched international prestige. Everyone has a reason for getting a Rolex – it’s ruggedness, dependability or elegance. I just want it because of Prestige, Style and man does it look good on my wrist.
